5 Great Ways to Celebrate Pet Appreciation Week With Fido

June 1, 2016
Did you know that the first week of June is Pet Appreciation Week? We think pets should be appreciated all the time, but this is still a great chance to show your furry friend a bit of extra TLC. If you have a pooch, read on for some great ideas from a local Fayetteville, NC veterinarian on how to pamper Fido during this special week.

Homemade Goodies

If you like cooking, why not whip up a batch of special snacks for your furry BFF? There are many great options, including several fun frozen treats, which would be perfect for Fido to enjoy on a hot summer day. Offer your pet pupsicles, which you can make by freezing doggy treats in water or sodium-free broth, using an ice cube tray or small paper cups. Or, mix cooked hamburger with shredded cheese. Add a little water, and freeze it in ice cube trays. Just be sure to use only ingredients that are safe for dogs!

Doggy Play Zone

If you have a yard, consider adding a few features to make it a doggy playzone. Get Fido a little wading pool, or add a sandbox and bury some toys for your four-legged pal. You can also make a doggy obstacle course.

Toys

A new toy is a great way to get that cute furry tail wagging! Pick up a new chew toy or rope toy for your canine buddy, and indulge him with a fun play session. Or, if you want to go all out, get Fido an automated tennis ball launcher. (Note: tennis balls can be dangerous for big dogs, so if your furry pal is on the large side, look for something else.)

Fun Adventures

Man’s Best Friend loves to get out and explore new places. Indulge your pooch with a fun day trip to a new park, or check out a new hiking trail. Or, take Fido to a doggy beach, or to a dog-friendly café.

Veterinary Care

We know, visiting us probably isn’t Fido’s favorite thing to do, but your canine buddy will be healthier, and therefore happier, with proper veterinary care. Make sure your furry friend sees the vet at least once a year! Does your dog need vaccinations or an exam? We provide our furry clients with excellent care!
