When a pet gets sick or becomes injured, they cannot speak to tell us where it hurts or what’s bothering them. Veterinary diagnostics are the tools that allow our doctors to be the voice for our animal companions. Diagnostic testing provides our experienced veterinarians with the ability to look below the surface and learn exactly what’s happening inside your pet’s body so we can diagnose and treat the problem in a timely manner, greatly improving the chances of a full and speedy recovery.

Academy Pet Hospital employs a broad range of diagnostic tools to monitor and manage the ongoing health of our patients. These services include routine lab work, such as in-house bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing, and diagnostic cytologies, as well as more advanced imaging methods like radiology (x-ray) and ultrasound. Our in-house laboratory ensures fast and accurate retrieval of test results, helping us diagnose and treat a variety of conditions where timely intervention is critical.

Digital Radiography

Radiology, or x-ray, is a diagnostic technology that captures images from inside your pet’s body so that our doctors can examine and interpret them to reach an accurate diagnosis. We use x-ray imaging to help us evaluate the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems, looking for any inconsistencies or abnormalities that might indicate what is ailing your companion.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging is another diagnostic tool that uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. Ultrasound is an excellent option for diagnosing a variety of illnesses and injuries because it is non-invasive, drug-free and completely painless for the patient.

Ultrasound services are available in-clinic and are performed by Dr. Long and Dr. Goff.
