Autumn is a beautiful time of year: the weather is crisp and cool, the leaves are changing, and the stores and restaurants are loaded with seasonable treats and memorabilia. Many people are looking forward to their favorite fall activities. As it turns out, our feline pals also have a few things planned for the coming months. Read on as a local Ellicott City, MD veterinarian goes over some of Fluffy’s most adorable autumn plans.

Zoomies

Kitties often get extra frisky when it’s cold out. Don’t be surprised if your feline buddy seems a bit more mischievous than usual as the weather cools. Pick up a few new toys for Fluffy to smack around, and take time to play with her every day.

Stretch Out In The Sun

As the days get shorter and the temperature drops, your furry pal will want to find cozy spots, and soak up as much heat and warmth as possible. It’s probably safe to say that you’ll find Fluffy sprawled out in a sunbeam soon.

Cuddle Time

It’s not exactly a secret that cats are super sleepy. Fluffy can spend a whopping 20 hours a day sleeping. Kitties get even more tired and drowsy when it’s cold or dreary out. Your furry buddy will definitely spend some of those rainy autumn days catching Z’s.

Watch Leaves

We always recommend keeping cats inside: they’re just much safer staying indoors, where they’re safe from cars, weather, and other hazards. However, Fluffy can still enjoy watching the leaves come down. Give your kitty a comfy window seat with a good view. (Tip: this can make for some really cute pictures.)

Steal Your Chair

Our drowsy feline friends are always on the lookout for warm napping spots, and they aren’t exactly shy about claiming them when they find them. At some point over the next few months, you’ll likely get up for something, and find your spot occupied when you return. Fluffy may also give an adorable little meow of protest if you move her to reclaim your spot.

Make You Laugh

This one really applies all year long. Kitties have a special way of amusing us and keeping us entertained with their silly antics. That’s why they’re such fun and lovable pets!
